February may be the shortest month on the calendar,

but it rarely seems to feel that way!

. This year, February carried frosty mornings and festive gatherings,

quiet focus with fresh decisions, familiar spaces

with faithfulness and fun rolled into it all!.

Yep, our February days were definitely FULL!

Welcome to Our Grand Lives!

It’s time for our monthly recap…

Today we’re sharing a few moments that shaped our February

and filled it to the brim!

From beginning to end, this past month has proved

that a small window of time can hold an incredible amount of life.

February brought more focused time to work on cleaning out photos.

(I first mentioned this project in our  January Life Lately post!)

Discouraged by the fading and discoloration, I downloaded an app earlier this month to help fix some pictures. I was so happy that this improved some old favorites and gave these photos a fresh new look!

The pictures below were a treasured find!

When I was a junior in college I spent my J-Term month visiting friends who were studying abroad for a year in France.  The bottom photo is a picture of me in Paris on the steps of La Madeleine.

Almost 30 years later, Daughter A studied abroad in Italy during her junior year of college!  She took the same picture when she visited France and sent it to me.  I love that I was able to fix my picture up and pair it with hers!

Enough with the memories!

Here are a few highlights of my February!

Weekly fun with these two cuties tops my list!

A trip to the Spring Flower Show at the MN Landscape Arboretum

was definitely a highlight,

with two grandmas, Daughter A and Littles D and P all in tow!

Oh, the sights and smells!  Where are you, Spring??

Valentine’s Day brought lots of festive moments…

A Valentine’s “Breakfast for Dinner” with my very loved family!

(We started the celebration two days early!)

Then it was time for our Valentine Italian Progressive Dinner with our college friends.

(This annual event is becoming a familiar tradition)

Hubby and I were in charge of dessert.

We provided the drinks and chocolate covered strawberries

and the couple we were paired with made the tiramisu!

Due to school holidays, I took care of our Littles for a couple extra days this month.

Hubby took a day off and the four of us

explored a new indoor play center in our city.

With the frosty weather outside, this was a nice outlet for us all!

What fun!

Yes, that is Grammy on the trampoline!

We all slept very well that night!

At the end of the month we celebrated Daughter A’s birthday

followed by a weekend of taking the Littles

so Daughter A and SIL C could celebrate with special time away!

Thanks February!

Now we're ready for spring!!!!

The Beach Party at church gave us a taste  of what’s ahead

and we can't wait!

February brought ALL the feels our way!

The month began on a frosty morning

with us saying good-bye to this sweetie and her little sister!

We had such a fun and memorable winter weekend together,

despite Hubby’s injured ribs!

(See our January Life Lately post for all those details!)

Hubby and his ribs didn’t love the four hour drive home, but, I’m happy to report, that slowly but surely, his body is finally starting to heal and his sleeping patterns are returning to normal!

Meanwhile, I was happy to get a fresh new look later that week!

It’s amazing how a few new highlights can brighten one’s day!

We were so excited when our Littles (and their mom and dad)

headed our way the following weekend!

Two weekends in a row together? What fun!

While the parents headed out for a festive overnight with friends,

Grandpa and Bacco got to play and snuggle to our hearts content!

We played flower shop!

Yep!  That’s a colander and a few silk flowers!

Then we practiced our fine motor and patterning skills!

We used dry pasta and straws and post-it notes.

It was all about the ♥️ 🩷 ♥️!

We continued with a festive dinner

and we made a tasty ♥ ️bedtime snack, too!

YUM!

The next day, we said our goodbyes once again and then it was time to get focused!

Our bathroom remodels were set to begin!

In fact, our contractor postponed demolition a week for us

when we found out that our family was going to be in town.

The time had come!!

After 30+ years, we needed to empty these two bathrooms pronto!

While I was definitely ready to say so long to these dated spaces - the pink tile, the floral wallpaper, the cracked toilet tank - it still felt so bittersweet, all at the same time!

Does that make sense?

My husband had rebuilt the vanity in our upstairs bath (the pink one) and tiled the floor in the downstairs bath when we first moved in.  Our girls had spent countless hours in “the pink bathroom”. As I emptied the cupboards, a wave of familiar memories washed over me! And then our oldest texted me "Bye childhood 🥲"  Goodness!  I wasn’t expecting such feelings to surface!

We took a break to celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend,

which also happened to be my birthday….

It’s true - I’m a Valentine’s Day Baby!

Despite the blurry photo, I had a great day

and felt the love from all corners from beginning to end!

The fun started the night before with dinner out and a favorite cocktail, too!

My Hubby has no excuse for ever forgetting my birthday OR Valentine’s Day… LOL!

I woke up Saturday morning (♥ ️ Day) to a birthday serenade!

Later that day, Hubby, Daughter A and I enjoyed this yummy meal!

I’m grateful for another GRAND year!

Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week, find me in familiar surroundings…

At church!

This winter our women’s bible study is focused on Season 5 of The Chosen!

This study has taken on new meaning now that Lent has arrived. Season 5 depicts much of Holy Week, beginning with Palm Sunday and continuing through The Last Supper.  Our small group conversations have been rich as we delve deeper into this familiar story and are reminded once again of how faithful God is - day in and day out!

February certainly took us on a weather rollercoaster!

One day felt like spring’s soft whisper; the next, a snow globe freshly shaken!

While we are ready to welcome spring, it sure is pretty, isn’t it?

For two weeks, we loved watching the Olympics

and found ourselves reliving memories of our country’s 1980 win!

Woohoo!  This was just as fun!

(See our Winter Olympics Treats & Sweets post for my  recollection of that game!)

As February comes to a close, I’ll leave you with these photos from the past week…

A few looks at what’s happening downstairs…

and this upstairs update, too!

A fresh look is coming soon!

and we’re always amazed by how much we learn from this community!

As we close the page on this past month, we find ourselves smiling at all the feels February has brought to our lives - frosty, festive, focused, familiar, fresh, fun, faithful, full!  How fitting that final word truly is: FULL!

In this season of retirement — slower mornings, flexible days, and the joy of being GRANDS — our lives feel wonderfully brimming! Full of little footsteps and sticky hugs. Full of shared meals and spontaneous outings. Full of faith that steadies us, familiar surroundings that bring comfort and love that always manages to surprise us!

The words from this quote ring true. and so we come full circle

— from frosty and festive to focused and faithful and finally full —

grateful for a February that may have been brief on the calendar,

but abundant in all the ways that matter most!
