Happy Friday, everyone!

Not only is today a Friday, but it’s the final Friday of the month
and we’re not sure where May has gone with all its possibilities!
It’s a month known for expectation, wishes and hope as spring transitions to summer
but it sure seems to fly by so quickly each year, doesn't it?
Then again, when we take a look at the photos we’re sharing in this post,
we realize that there were so many moments - big and small -
that were captured and celebrated!
And, of course, life also threw us a few curveballs along the way, as well!
SURPRISE!
What’s that saying?
Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans?
YEP! WE'D AGREE!

as well as a few others we love to join (highlighted at the end of this post).
This winter and spring
we typically shared our WEEKLY SNAPSHOTS posts each Friday
These posts gave us the opportunity to highlight special moments and everyday ones
from each of our lives, as well as from our blog and social media accounts!
We’ve loved writing these posts and then sharing this content with you all!
Then, in May, the madness of the month got the best of us
and we got super busy on all fronts!
We have a feeling, that this will continue into the months ahead
SO
rather than posting weekly snapshots during the summer,
we plan to share our review in photos with you all,
in a LIFE LATELY post on the last Friday of each month, beginning today!
Here’s a glimpse at what we’ve been up to in May!

May began with me wrapping up another year of teaching Sunday School!
I’ve been teaching Sunday School more years than I can count
and next year, I’ll be following my class to second grade
Here’s a little treat I shared with the Littles in my class!

We shared this idea and our Prayer Rock Poem
on Instagram earlier this month.
My husband and I had a wonderful “mini spring escape” at our favorite Minnesota destination - Grand View Lodge!

This photo (compliments of Google) captures the beauty of their original property which has continued to expand over the years!! We love going with our family each summer and my husband and I have made it a tradition to escape and head there for a few days each May, as well!
It was very quiet (not resort season yet!!) and we enjoyed relaxing, eating out, reading, playing golf, walking and enjoying the beautiful weather! The perfect spring getaway!

CHEERS!
When we returned to reality a few days later, we discovered that our DIL M had just taken a fall and shattered her wrist! This required three days in the hospital and surgery!

Ten days later our Daughter A fell on some steps and hurt her foot and ankle!

I started thinking that I might not leave the couch for a week or so… just in case!
YIKES!
Our DIL M is a talented musician. She teaches vocal lessons and is the lead vocalist in a band called Maria and the Coins! We love traveling around watching them play!

Even a very rainy and cold evening in May
can’t stop us from enjoying their music!

BRRR!
And, of course, I continue to take care of my sweet Littles each week!
Do you remember when we were having picnic lunches
on the floor in our family room earlier this spring?
We’re happy to report that we are really enjoying our newly remodeled space
and we are thrilled that we are now living in a ‘construction-free’ zone!

We were thrilled that we were able to spend both
Mother’s Day and Memorial Day with these two Littles!

They sure know how to make our lives GRAND!

May is ALWAYS a whirlwind for our family…
We have multiple family birthdays to celebrate along with all the other holidays.
Add a few other festivities and obligations into the mix
and you’ll see why we get caught up in the frenzy of it all!
It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since we first met this sweet Little!

We traveled to Wisconsin the first weekend in May
to celebrate Little P’s first birthday!

Big sister, Little L, was ready to celebrate…

and so was Little P!

Look at our birthday girl go!

We simply can’t imagine life without her or her sister!
WHAT LOVES!
We were able to stay a few extra days
so that we could wish our baby - Daughter J - a Happy Birthday, too!

Then we headed back home and the following weekend the Wisconsin Middles
made their way to Minnesota for a family wedding!
(LIttle L and Little P spent the weekend with our SIL’s family!)
The night before the wedding, Hubby and I had a lovely dinner out
with two of his siblings/spouses and one of our nieces!

The next day was our niece’s wedding
(Yes, she was the guest of honor two weeks earlier

They had the perfect spring day!
We cleaned up pretty well, too!

AFter a few hugs and kisses, we said our goodbyes
and the Wisconsin couple was on their way
so they could get home to celebrate Mother’s Day with their own Littles!
Two days later, we had a small “Surprise Birthday Party” for Daughter A!
A few people joined us on a beautiful evening!

Creme brulee - her favorite dessert!
And all of these GRAND moments took place between May 2 and May 12!
May Madness at it's best!
The rest of the month was spent tidying up the yard,
and prepping our family lake place for the summer season!
Memorial Day weekend was filled with a few needed chores
like detailing the pontoon before it went in the water!

and, of course, lots of lake time!

It was a GRAND way to kick off the summer season!

It was a busy month at Our Grand Lives, too!
We began the month by sharing our recipe for Lemon Blueberry Poke Cake
and we shared our Mother’s Day Memories in a post, too.
Then we provided lots of details for two bridal celebrations Laura recently hosted,

and we compiled a Little friendly collection of 10 Patriotic Snacks & Sweets
just in time for the summer holidays!

Last week, Laura revisited an important personal journey,
as she shared details about her own Heart Day anniversary!

Then, this week, we had the opportunity to meet and make plans for the summer ahead!
Bring On Summer!

We hope you’ll join us next Thursday, when we kick off our series

What a GRAND month! :) I love the "donut forget to pray"! I hope your daughters heal up quickly. May is one of my favorite months, followed closely by June--the perfect mix of spring and summer. :) Thanks for sharing this post with us at the Will Blog for Comments #63 linkup! We hope you'll stop in and share more at #64, which opens Monday. Hope your weekend is a great one. :)
Wow! That is a lot of family birthdays in one month. I love May. My irises bloom then, and I get the planting bug.
Wishing your daughters speedy recoveries- never easy! Love all of your patriotic treats and of course your time with the littles :)
I'm the guest in the comment below : ) Oops.
