Where has the week gone?
We feel like we’ve been saying that a lot lately…
We’ve both been busy with family celebrations and brief getaways
and our days have been filled
with the anticipation that May brings every year
and even a few unexpected challenges and surprises along the way!
That’s May for you!
We look forward to getting back to our normal blogging routine next week
(in fact, we have 3 special posts planned!)
Since today is Friday,
This time though, in place of moments from the past week,
we are sharing a few special snapshots
- favorite memories from past years -
all in honor of MOTHER’S DAY!

Where have the years gone?
Today, we’re taking a look back…
Into our own childhood, our early years as a mom
and then, more recently, while watching our own daughters
become moms and tackle these new roles!

As we think back and reflect
it really does feel like a full circle moment of sorts...
rather strange while beautiful at the same time!

Of course, Mother’s Day is the day
when we celebrate the special women in our lives that have helped shape us!
For each of us, that would be our own moms
and the ways they shared their faith and love with us, day in and day out!

Now we remember...
all they taught us and all they meant to us
and we are thankful for every single day we had with them!

The first time you celebrate Mother’s Day as a mother yourself
is a memorable one indeed!
Suddenly YOU are the main attraction
with people wishing YOU a Happy Mother’s Day!
Look at those babies... and our little ones, too!
We were both certainly excited to celebrate our first Mother's Day as moms!

Laura’s Daughter J was only 3 days old!
What a special Mother’s Day that was!

Fast forward 30+ years and, these days, we honor our own daughters
and their role as mamas!
We are SO proud of them!
What joy to see our own children embrace motherhood!
Definitely something worth celebrating!

Our daughters (those babies that made us mamas in the photos above)
with the Littles who made them mamas!

Nowadays, we get to experience Mother’s Day from a GRAND perspective
and it’s a vantage point we absolutely cherish!
In some ways we've passed the torch
and are now in a supporting role rather than the star of the show!
The wisdom we've gained through life experiences
and the contentment found at this stage of life are gifts from above
and ones we don't take for granted!
We’re grateful for the opportunities we get
to support and encourage the young moms in our lives
and the amazing (and often challenging) job they are doing
as they raise their precious Littles!
And, of course, we adore our own present roles as
Grammy (Laurie) and Bacco (Laura)... our favorite job in the world!

While we know many of you, like us,
embrace Mother’s Day and all it brings,
we also know all too well
that for others this day can be a difficult one…
For those of you grieving a loss or longing for motherhood or reconciliation,
please know that we acknowledge you
and we pray that you find love surrounding you on your journey!

Our Final Thought for the Week!
When we look back at our lives - as daughters, mothers and now GRANDS,
we are reminded of that popular saying…
The years are long but the days are short!
It’s so true!
And through it all, it’s the LOVE that is the constant!
How GRAND is that!

Hi Laura and Laurie - what a lovely reflection back on Mother's Day and I so enjoyed seeing the photos of you with your mother's and as new mothers yourself and then your daughter's as mothers. This year was the first Mother's Day without my Mother for me so it was a bit sad. My kids were lovely to me though which helped. Thanks so much for linking up with #WWWhimsy xo
How lovely Laura and Laurie - your photos with your babies and then with them all grown up are beautiful! Happy Mother's Day to you all. The days certainly are short these days!!!

Hope you had a happy Mother's Day! I agree it is an absolute joy to watch your daughters become mothers. And I imagine moms of boys feel the same way too. Sweet photos of days gone by. Such a treasure.
Beautiful- you save photos the way I do and I am sure you will never regret that! :)
