Easter Sunday is quickly approaching
and some of us are still in the midst of our final holiday planning!
How about you?
If you’re still looking for a simple way or two
to add a special touch to your celebration,
we’ve got a few ideas that have worked well for us and our families!.

Our On the Hunt list is filled with a variety of last-minute favorites
that bring joy without stress…
perfect for bringing some added fun to your holiday!

Easter is just around the corner,
and it is never too late to add a few simple touches
that will make the holiday feel extra special.
Today we’re sharing 6 Easter ideas we love!
And, while they all take a little bit of prep,
each involves simple materials and is easy to pull off
without a lot of time or energy needed!
For us, that’s a WIN-WIN!
#1 - Peeps Tasting!
Whether you love them or not,
there are so many flavors of these marshmallowy treats available now!
Here’s a fun taste testing activity for families to enjoy together,
compliments of Laurie and her family!
It would be a perfect addition to your family’s Easter festivities fun for all ages!

For years now, my extended family has been holding a taste testing event
as part of our Easter festivities.
In addition to Peeps, we’ve sampled jelly beans and M & M’s…

Hmmm! What will be tasting this year? Time will tell!
THE SET UP!
Shop for different flavors of Peeps. (We suggest a minimum of 3 flavors.)
Set them out on labeled plates by flavors (I had about 24 people participating so I cut them into pieces)
Have different colored shapes of paper available for each flavor - also put these by the plates. I used my paper punch (similar to this one) to quickly create these.

Guests taste samples, choose their own favorite and write their names on the corresponding shapes and glue their choices on the graph (we like using glue sticks for this)..

Our results may surprise you!!!
I never expected Hot Tamale to win that year!
#2 - Easter Egg Conversation Starters!
Over the years, we have heard study after study about the positive benefits that family dinners which include meaningful conversations have on a child’s development! However, let’s face it, sometimes Littles answer questions with a “yes”, “no”or a “whatever” (Welcome to the preteen years!) Here is an easy way to encourage some heartfelt and maybe silly dinner conversation.

A great thing about this activity is that it can be multigenerational! Set up a basket of plastic Easter Eggs! Write a fun question on a slip of paper and insert one in each egg. At Easter dinner, family members take turns picking one egg at a time. The chosen family member reads the day’s question and asks each family member to answer it. It is totally acceptable to giggle or ask questions of the person who is answering! You may learn a lot about your family!
Need some suggestions for questions to get you going?
Here’s our ideas!

Don’t forget…
The best part of this activity is asking “why” after someone answers the question!
Also, It is always smart to set some ground rules beforehand,
such as listen respectfully,
don’t make fun of someone’s answer,
and ask questions to learn more!
#3 - A Chocolate Toast!
This has become an Easter family tradition for Laurie’ family!

Prior to our Easter toast, we passed a basket around the table
and everyone chose a foil wrapped bunny or chick from it!
(You could also put a chocolate bunny or chick at each person’s place setting, too.)

When you are ready for your toast,
everyone bites the ear or head from their piece of chocolate.
Irish creme (or chocolate milk for a nonalcoholic version)
is poured into each hollow, filling it.

CHEERS, EVERYONE!

#4 - Bunny Cups!
These are a fun project for Littles to make
either in the days leading up to Easter or as part of your holiday festivities.
Once finished, they can be filled with a mixture of popcorn and jelly beans
or perhaps our bunny bait
and then be used to decorate your table place settings.

MATERIALS NEEDED (to make 2 Bunny Cups)
2 plastic glasses (you could use white paper cups, too)
4 plastic eyes (we used the self adhesive kind)
2 pink pom poms
2 cotton balls
white construction paper
pink construction paper (or patterned scrapbook paper)
black construction paper
scissors
glue, glue stick or glue gun

NOTE: You can use construction paper in place of the plastic eyes, pom poms and/or cotton balls.
DIRECTIONS
Glue or stick two googly eyes onto each plastic cup, as shown. (You can also draw and cut out eyes from paper.) Cut 6 thin strips from the black paper for each bunny’s whiskers.
Glue 6 whiskers onto each plastic cup, three on each side, as shown below. Glue the pink pom pom (or pink paper) nose over the whiskers, as shown. Let the whiskers and nose dry.

NOTE: At this point, we gave our bunny’s whiskers a haircut. We also cut a “w” out of black paper and glued it underneath the pom pom nose. These steps are completely optional.
For each bunny, cut two large ear shapes from white paper and two smaller pink ones that will fit inside the white ones. Glue the pink ears inside the white ones.

Glue two ears onto the top of each cup. For the bunny’s tail, glue a cotton ball to the lower back side of each cup. Let the “ears” and “tails” dry.

While you can’t see the cotton ball tails above, this part of each bunny will most likely be your Littles’ favorite! Fill your Bunny Cups with Bunny Bait or any other treat you’d like!
#5 - Easter Table Favors!
We’ve already given you two ideas for table favors…
The chocolate bunnies/chicks for your Easter toast
and/or our DIY Bunny Cups,
but we’ve still got two more options for you!
Each is simple enough to make that your Littles could help!

Here are similar graphics you are invited to use…
simply screenshot and print!

Another fun option would be A Jelly Bean Prayer.

We shared this idea (and the graphic to go with it) in our last week's post.
#6 - A Cross Fruit Platter!
Our final idea is one that can be created when serving brunch or dinner
as part of an Easter gathering.

Laura’s SIL’s aunt first provided this fruit platter
at Little P’s baptism celebration in 2024.

It’s equally a refreshing addition to an Easter table, too!
Hopefully you can see how the watermelon was cut into triangles
and then the slices were criss-crossed to make the large cross
in the center of the platter.

Other varieties of fruit - grapes, melon, pineapple and berries -
had been cut and placed around the cross!
Littles will love helping you prep this fruit platter, too!

Well, that’s it for this week!
Thank you so much for being here!
We’re so grateful you stopped by,
and we’d love to hear more about your plans for Easter.
Do you have any special Easter traditions
that you and your family look forward to each year?
Please feel free to comment at the end of this post!
THANK YOU!
We’re off to make our own final preparations for the week ahead.
WE PLAN TO TAKE A SHORT BREAK FROM Our Grand Lives
but will be back later next week
when we recap the month of March from our own GRAND points of view!.
We’ll look forward to seeing you back here then!
that way you’ll never miss out when we publish a new post!
We’d love to have you check out our content
