it's still fall, y'all! let's celebrate autumn!
Monday, November 2, 2026

It's hard to believe that this past weekend
we said goodbye to October and then
we turned right around and welcomed November!
And while many are already switching gears,
pulling out the holiday décor and turning up the Christmas music,
we're not quite ready to bid fall adieu just yet!
We're curious... which camp do you fall into?
Are you happy to savor every last bit of fall right through Thanksgiving,
or are you ready to jump into the holiday season?
There's no right or wrong answer... we're just wondering where you stand!
We’d love it if you let us know in the comments section at the end of this post!!
Don't get us wrong... we're every bit as excited about the holidays ahead,
but we think autumn still deserves a little more time in the spotlight!

There are still plenty of ways to embrace this beautiful season, especially with our Littles! From enjoying the last of the colorful leaves and savoring a favorite fall treat to making a few more autumn memories with those we love, we’re sharing some of our favorite ideas! So before we rush headfirst into the holiday hustle and bustle, we plan to slow down and celebrate all that the autumn season still has to offer!

We’re ready for November’s crunchy leaves, sweater weather
and all the charm it brings!
Please join us! After all… it’s still fall, y’all!

Today, we're mixing things up with a little bit of everything...
We’re sharing some of our last minute seasonal ideas,
as we celebrate autumn with you all!
Autumn Activities with Littles!
Cardboard Framed Leaves!
Here’s one craft you can still fit in before you rake up all the leaves. In fact, it’s a fun activity for all ages!

Before you go on an autumn walk:
Cut a frame out of a piece of cardboard. Cut a piece of clear contact paper that is slightly larger than the open center of the cardboard frame. Remove the paper backing from the contact paper and attach it to the cardboard frame.

Now you’re ready to go on your walk!
As you walk, gather colorful fall leaves. Attach the leaves to the sticky side of the contact paper. Repeat with more leaves that you collect!

Attach the leaves to the sticky side of the contact paper.

Now you have a beautiful piece of framed fall art!
It’s the perfect autumn decoration!
Rainbow Leaves!
Spend some time outdoors searching for some different fall leaves. If you can, find leaves with different shapes and that are different sizes.
Use washable markers to color the side of a leaf without the veins. You can use different markers to add several colors. (Our Little used rainbow colors!)

When done coloring, turn the leaf over and press it onto a sheet of white paper (we used copy paper). Press down and rub the leaf on the paper, pushing hard as you do so. Lift up!

Do you see our rainbow prints?

Counting Leaf Sticks!
When we were out collecting leaves, we picked up enough for this project (and one more below, too). This was a fun way for our older Littles to practice their counting skills, while our younger ones enjoyed the challenge of threading beads on to the pipe cleaners!

You’ll need a variety of leaves, some pipe cleaners, a dark permanent marker and some pony beads, too.

Choose a pipe cleaner and wrap one end securely around the stem of a leaf. Repeat this step with more leaves (more or less, depending on your Littles abilities and interests). Write a number on each leaf. Our Little was practicing her counting skills to twenty, so our leaves had numbers from 8-20 on them.
Your Little chooses a leaf and then threads that many beads on to the pipe cleaner.

For Younger Littles - Let toddlers practice their threading skills by choosing a leaf (with NO pipe cleaner attached) and let them thread beads on to the stem.

NO counting involved!
Stained Glass Leaves!
Here’s another colorful art project to do with Littles of all ages! In fact, you’ll use some of the same materials highlighted before with the addition of colored tissue paper… Which Littles of all ages love!

Begin, by using a black permanent marker to draw a leaf shape on a piece of clear contact paper. Cut squares of tissue paper for your Little to use. Remove the paper covering the sticky side of the contact paper. Tape the contact paper to a table or a window, with the sticky side facing up/out.
Your Little can put pieces of tissue paper on the leaf shape on the contact paper. Fill in with tissue paper. No need for your Little to stay inside the leaf shape - let them put the tissue anywhere on the contact paper.

When done, cover the sticky side of the project with another piece of contact paper, sticky side to sticky side. Trim around the leaf shape!

Let the sun shine in!
Leaf Puppets!
Here’s one more activity that we did with the extra leaves we’d collected! While these dried out after a day or two, we sure had fun with them in the meantime!

We taped tongue depressors (or you can use popsicle/craft sticks) to the back of some leaves. Then we added googly eyes, although you could draw them on with a marker. We didn’t add mouths, but you could do that with a marker, as well.

We had fun playing with our leaf puppets, putting on puppet shows for each other, singing songs, and playing Hide-n-Seek, too!

We ❤️ playing “Peek-a-Boo” with our leaves, too!
Autumn Adventures with Littles!
An Autumn Treasure Hunt!
Here’s a fun way to look for treasures during a fall walk with your LIttles!

We created the chart below and printed out a copy. (Feel free to screenshot it and print out a copy for you and your Littles, too.)
We taped our copy to the inside lid of an egg carton.

NOTE: Older Littles (probably second grade and above) will have fun discovering their own treasures and then labeling their own egg carton, too!
Having the egg carton with the prompts of what to look for worked so well with our Little! She was very proud each time she discovered something new!

And she was able to do most of the “hunting” independently!

Before we knew it, her collection was complete
and our Little had fun sharing her discoveries!

So many treasures!
An Oldie But a Goodie… Playing in the Leaves!
There’s a reason this one has been around for all these years!
Is it time to rake those leaves? Why not turn that chore into a little fun with your Littles along the way!
Bury yourself - or each other - in the leaves!

Go down a slide into a pile of leaves!

Dance! Make a maze! Toss the leaves all around!

And, of course, there’s nothing better than making a BIG pile to jump in!

The laughter is contagious!

One More Fave to Celebrate Autumn!
To round up this collection of ideas,
we’ve got one more simple - and yummy - idea to share!
Autumn Pretzel Bites!
More than likely, you’re familiar with this pretzel/chocolate combo, but this version includes an autumn twist! These goodies are the perfect combination of sweet and salty, and couldn't be easier to make with just three simple ingredients! You can make these ahead of time and store them at room temperature. They are great to add to a fall charcuterie board or as a nibble with a cup of coffee or tea. They make a wonderful garnish when serving a bowl of ice-cream and they make a lovely hostess gift when served on a small plate.

A small pretzel (we used Snaps), a Hershey’s kiss or hug (we used both), and surprise… candy corn — are all you need and, from beginning to end, it will take you about 20 minutes to make forty treats!

Place your pretzels on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Put an unwrapped Hershey’s Kiss or a Hershey’s Hug on each pretzel. Bake the pretzel/chocolate combinations at 200 degrees for five minutes.

NOTE: The Hershey Hugs melt faster than the Hershey Kisses so either watch closely or make 20 of each at a time, like I did. Sorry - I forgot to take a photo of the Hugs at this point!
Melt until soft, then push a candy corn into each melted chocolate.

Cool the treats and store in an airtight container at room temperature! Serve when ready!

Well, Y’all….
We hope you've found an idea or two
to add some fun and fall flair to your season!

While we love the activities and adventures this time of year offers,
there's really nothing quite like the splendor autumn brings!
One of the best ways to savor the season is to take it all in!
From breathtaking landscapes and trees dressed in their glorious fall colors
to birds making their seasonal journeys
and those peaceful, still moments that seem to invite us to slow down and take it all in,
autumn has a way of reminding us just how magical the world around us can be.

It's one of the sweetest gifts of the season,
and while we love soaking up all that beauty ourselves,
sharing it with the people we love makes it even more special.
After all, some of life's most treasured memories are made
when we pause,
look around and enjoy the simple wonder of the season together!

What great crafts using leaves. We have them tumbling down as I type this in, thanks for all you do! Visiting from #MMBC
I'm team fall all the way. I love November, the colors, the light, the cozy evenings, and a month focused on gratitude. Thanksgiving is kind of late this year (as in we don't get that extra week after before December rolls in) so I'll probably start decorating some before December. I'm hosting Thanksgiving though, and want it to feel like the holiday it is. Have a great week!
