Winter has certainly made itself known this week in our world!

BRRR!

With the winds howling and the temps quickly dropping outside,

we're hoping that today’s post will leave you

feeling cozy from the inside out!

To celebrate this winter season,

we’re switching things up from our regular content

in a GRAND way!

We’re sharing some of our favorite winter cocktails and mocktails…

From spiced chai and bright cranberry

to wintry rosemary and cozy hot chocolate,

each sip reflects the simple, seasonal flavors we love to enjoy

during these cold winter months!

With its warming spices, comforting aroma, and cozy, nostalgic vibes,

chai is the perfect winter flavor to sip and savor!

A Chai-tini!

The ingredients in this cocktail work together to create a beverage

that’s perfect for any winter gathering!

The addition of the chai tea concentrate makes this a simple recipe to follow!

INGREDIENTS (Serves 1)

• ¼ cup chai tea concentrate (regular or decaf)

• 1 ½ oz vodka (regular or vanilla)

• 1 ½ oz Bailey’s Irish Cream

• ¼ cup half & half

• ice

• star anise & cinnamon, for garnish

Place a martini glass in the freezer to chill for a few minutes.

Meanwhile, to a cocktail shaker add the chai tea concentrate, vodka, Bailey’s and half and half. Shake for 15 seconds or so to froth the mixture.  Add ice to the shaker and shake again for another 15 seconds to chill and combine the ingredients.  Strain into your chilled martini glass.

Garnish with a dusting of cinnamon and a star anise.

A GRAND Mocktail:  Sparkling Vanilla Chai!

Try this gently spiced, lightly creamy, and festive non alcoholic version!

INGREDIENTS (Serves 1)

• ½ cup chai tea concentrate (regular or decaf)

• 1-2 tsp honey or maple syrup (to taste)

• ¼ tsp vanilla extract

• sparkling water

• ice

• cinnamon stick or star anise for garnish

In a glass, combine chai tea concentrate, honey and vanilla.  Stir well.  Fill the glass with ice and top with sparkling water and gently stir.

Garnish with cinnamon stick or star anise.

A Warm Option!  Skip the ice and sparkling water; gently heat the chai tea concentrate, honey and vanilla and service with a cinnamon stick!

NOTE: Littles will like this, too, if you use decaf chai, extra milk and top with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar and a few mini marshmallows!

Bright, tangy, and full of festive cheer,

cranberries are a classic winter flavor that instantly evoke the season!

Winter Cranberry Gin Sparkler!

This cocktail features cold, crisp, wintery gin!

Add tart cranberries to your drink and you have a sparkling winner!

INGREDIENTS (Serves 1)

• 1½ oz gin

• 3 oz cranberry juice (100% juice)

• ½ oz fresh lime juice

• sparkling water or prosecco

• ice

• frozen cranberries or sugared cranberries for garnish

Shake gin, cranberry juice and lime with ice.  Strain into a chilled glass with fresh ice.  Top with sparkling water or prosecco.

Add frozen cranberries or sugared cranberries to your drink, as garnish!

Sugared CranberriesThese take a bit of time but are well worth it (plus they are delicious to munch on, too, and make a great garnish on a winter charcuterie board, as well)!  We follow this easy recipe!

A GRAND Mocktail:  A Cranberry Orange “Mule”!

This non-alcoholic version of a cranberry mule gets a lovely flavor boost by adding orange juice to the mix!  It’s a family favorite, too!

INGREDIENTS (Serves 1)

• ½ cup cranberry juice (100% juice)

NOTE:  You can use cranberry cocktail but it will be much sweeter

• ½ cup fresh orange juice

• ½ cup ginger beer (non-alcoholic)

• juice of ½ lime

• ice

• sugared or frozen cranberries & an orange slice as garnish

Fill a copper mug or glass with ice.  Add cranberry juice, orange juice and lime juice.  Top with ginger beer and gently stir.  Garnish with cranberries and orange slice, as desired.

With its fragrant, piney aroma and subtle savory notes,

rosemary is a favorite winter flavor

that adds a fresh, festive touch to many seasonal drinks!

.

A Blackberry Mule!

Check out this bright and icy-cold cocktail,

beautifully finished with rosemary for a touch of winter fragrance!

INGREDIENTS (Serves 1)

• 1½ oz vodka or gin

• ½ cup fresh or frozen blackberries

• ½ oz fresh lime juice

• ½ oz simple syrup

• ginger beer, chilled

• ice

• fresh rosemary sprig, lime wedge & blackberry for garnish

In a shaker, muddle blackberries with lime juice and simple syrup.  Add vodka (or gin) and ice.  Shake well.  Strain into a copper mug or short glass filled with fresh ice.  Top with ginger beer and gently stir.

Garnish with a rosemary sprig, a lime wedge and/or a blackberry.

A GRAND Mocktail:  A Pomegranate Sparkler!

This bright and festive mocktail is perfect for your winter celebrations and family-friendly gatherings!

INGREDIENTS (Serves 1)

• ½ cup pomegranate juice (100% juice)

• 1 T fresh lime juice

• 1-2 tsp honey or simple syrup

• sparkling water or lemon lime soda, chilled

• ice

• fresh rosemary sprig and/or Pomegranate arils for garnish

Fill a glass with ice.  Add pomegranate juice, lime juice, and honey or simple syrup.  Stir gently to combine.  Top with sparkling water/lemon lime soda.  Garnish as desired!

In our opinion, we saved the best flavor for last!!!

Rich, creamy, and irresistibly comforting, hot chocolate is a classic winter favorite

that warms both the hands and the heart!

Warm Chocolate Orange Nightcap!

Here’s a crowd-pleasing,

cozy chocolate cocktail that feels extra special but is still simple.

INGREDIENTS (Serves 1)

• 1 cup hot chocolate

• 1½ oz orange liqueur

• 1 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream

• whipped cream, for topping

• orange zest and/or mini chocolate chips, for garnish

Prepare hot chocolate and pour into a warmed mug.  Stir in orange liqueur and Bailey’s until smooth.  Top with whipped cream.  Garnish with a twist of orange zest and chocolate chips.

A GRAND Mocktail:  A Family Friendly Nightcap!

It’s perfect for Littles while grown-ups sip the spirited version above!

Skip the alcohol, add a splash of orange juice (optional) and vanilla. Then top with mini chocolate chips, orange zest and whipped cream, of course!.

ANOTHER OPTION?  Add a pinch of cinnamon and top with mini marshmallows!

Hi L&L, gosh those cocktails and mocktails look delicious! I’ve been seeing the cold temps and winter storms with snow & ice across the US on the TV here! Meanwhile we’ve been having a heatwave! The world is crazy! Thank you so much for linking up with our last #WWWhimsy and for being such a lovely part of its community. Apologies for the late comment. My computer is playing up. I’m doing this from my phone! Eek! Take care both of you and stay warm! xo (Min - Write of the Middle)

I don't drink (I like to use my calories on French fries), but these mocktails sound delicious, especially the cranberry mule! I love cranberries in almost any form. Thanks for the recipes!

I (Laura) love my cranberries, too, Marsha, especially this time of year! I typically enjoy a festive mocktail as much (or more) than a cocktail - my family would tell you I'm quite a lightweight! Either way, a festive drink is always fun to have on hand! 💕 L & L

Hi L&L, I really like the drink ideas and hope things warm up soon. Maybe I can send you some of our excessive heat that we're experiencing down here? It's been over 40C for most of this week and I know it's summer but those temps are a bit ridiculous!

Stay warm!

We could definitely use a bit of summer warmth right now, Debbie, but your temps are too warm for us to completely enjoy! We hope you are managing to stay cool, at least when you are indoors! Thanks for stopping by! We appreciate the visit! 💕 L & L

It is amazing just how cold it has gotten everywhere. The sun my look bright but we cannot let it fool us. Keep warm and safe!

So true, Joanne! The sunshine is always welcome but in our neck of the woods that usually means the temps are colder! Thanks for stopping by! 💕 L & L

Thank you, Susan! We are used to these cold temps this time of year but we're guessing the drop in the thermometer near you was more unusual! The sunshine helps, that's for sure! 💕 L & L
