Another week has come and gone
and that means it’s time for a new FALL favorite!
However, before Laura gets started with today’s topic,
she’s got a few other faves to share with you all!
I returned home Wednesday evening
after an extra long weekend
spent with both of my daughters and my two granddaughters, too!
Our SIL was deer hunting so it was the perfect opportunity
to provide some helpful reinforcement
while enjoying quality time with all my girls!
(Hubby stayed home during this All Girls trip!)
Daughter A and I left Friday morning
and the sky was so unique!
For several miles, the clouds seemed to be hugging the ground!
It’s a good thing I wasn’t driving
as I was mesmerized!
This little cutie turned 6 months old during our visit!
Oh, Little P, we love you so!
The time change played a number on our Littles' sleep patterns!
There were lots of early morning snuggles
as we did our best to get them back on track!
Little L and I had fun playing and reading
and we were able to go to the library and to swimming lessons, too!
It was a low-key visit and I appreciated the opportunity
to see what a normal week looked like
and to be able to experience some of it with these sweets of mine!
Check out yesterday’s post if you’d like to see
some projects and activities we had fun with during our visit!
Little L and I also made a few Thanksgiving treats during our stay,
little nibbles that made us both smile!
This post features Thanksgiving treats that are
easy, fast and FUN!
None of them are really original
(we’ve seen them - or some version of each -
highlighted in different places over the years)
However, we have adapted them,
using simple ingredients, complete with basic directions,
and, most importantly, each comes with a BIG thumbs up from our Littles!
Our hope is that in some small way
our post might inspire you to make one or two with your own Littles
during the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving!
Your Littles…
either your grandkids (like us), your own children or children in your care,
will be excited to help you make any of the treats shared today!
A Donut Turkey!
The ingredients for this cute turkey were simple,
mini donuts, Froot Loops, edible eyes, cream cheese and toothpicks!
NOTE:
I have a collection of edible eyes that I bought on Amazon
but you could easily substitute mini chocolate chips for the eyes, too!
Stick three or more toothpicks into the top of the donut, depending on it's size. Since we were using mini donuts, Little L had just three feathers Then add Froot Loops to make the feathers. (Little L loves her rainbow patterns!)
We added a small dollop of cream cheese we had in the fridge to the back side of each edible eye. (Frosting or nutella or honey would be other good options for this “glue”.) We did the same with half of a red and half of an orange Froot Loop. These then became the turkey’s beak and waddle!
These cute turkeys have such personalities, don’t they?
(And I'm not just talking about the donut! 😉)
An Apple Turkey!
Same concept as the donut turkey above
and the same ingredients, too… except for one!
You’ll need an apple, toothpicks, Froot Loops, & edible eyes or mini chocolate chips.
We also used cream cheese once again as our glue!
See the directions for the Donut Turkey above if you are looking for
detailed instructions for making your own Apple Turkey!
NOTE:
Instead of Froot Loops you could use mini marshmallows
to build your Apple Turkey’s feathers!
A Brownie Turkey!
Last year, Little L and I made Brownie Turkeys when she and her family
came to visit us!
These were a delicious ending to a November family gathering!
I told you - these treat ideas are easy, fast and FUN
and while these first three are basically the same thing,
your Little will be tickled each time you make a new version!
An added bonus...
any of these first three activities provide fine motor practice, too!
Candy Corn Fruit Cups
These are very refreshing and your Littles will love the color (and fruit) combination…
Mandarin oranges, pineapple, bananas and Cool Whip!
Drain the canned mandarin oranges and pineapple tidbits.
(We used the low sugar/no sugar options for each.)
Layer the mandarin oranges, the pineapple and a few sliced bananas
in a clear cup.
(Older toddlers and preschoolers could use a plastic knife to cut their own bananas!)
Top with whipped cream!
Of course, you could add a piece of candy corn or two to the top for added fun!
Little L loved this snack when we made it last year!
A Veggie Turkey!
Your Littles will have fun helping you create this festive veggie tray
(The one below was created by Little L’s other GRAND at last year’s gathering!)
Isn’t that red pepper turkey body cute?)
Use the photo above as a guide if needed.
Simply choose the vegetables you’d like to feature,
add a dip
and create a turkey body!
(We love the big radish/black olive eyes!)
Then layer the veggies, as shown, to create the turkey feathers and grass!
A Fruit Feathered Turkey!
Here’s another fun idea!
Our SIL’s mom also made this tray of fruit kebabs as an appetizer last year.
It was the perfect addition to our Thanksgiving gathering
and we’re sure your Littles would love building and eating the kebabs!
This turkey’s body was half of a pear
and cheese slices were cut to make the turkey’s feet.
Whole cloves or peppercorns could serve as eyes
and a small end of a carrot would make a great beak!
As we mentioned,
we can't really take credit for these cute ideas
BUT
that certainly doesn’t matter to our Littles!
We sure had fun putting our own spin on each!
The main objective is to create memories together!
If you’ll be spending time with your Littles in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving,
think about making one of these treats with them….
We’ve got you covered with options for
breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and snack time!
We hope you’ll be inspired to give one or more a try!
Do you have a favorite Thanksgiving treat to make for your sweet family?
If so, we’d love to hear about it!

What a fun trip! Low-key can be SO good! :) I love the donut turkey and the fruit turkey especially--so cute. Thank you for sharing this post with us at the Will Blog for Comments #52 linkup. We hope to see you back sharing more during our linkup #53. (It will be on a holiday schedule, open Dec. 2 - Jan. 2 while we take a break during the week of Thanksgiving.)
I love it! I have some downtime waiting for our mold specialists to finish up, so I'm trying to find some new little activities for my kids to try out. I'll definitely be checking out the rest of your blog! Thanks!
Some lovely fun food ideas. My grandson wouldn't need any encouragement to eat these, he loves his fruit loops and any food you give him. My grandaughter is really picky though. How lovely you got to spend time with your family.
These snacks look delicious!
Oh, I'm loving these fall snacks! I'm going to make the veggie turkey. It's creative and a nice way to get those veggies in. Thank you for sharing at The Crazy Little Lovebirds link party #63.
